RIGHTS OF REFUSAL OF A DOG REGISTRATION
The European Bully Kennel Club treats each dog registration on an individual basis and each case is reviewed separately. Dogs must fit the health and breed standards in order to be accepted. The European Bully Kennel Club reserves the right to refuse and reject a dog even if the dog in question has a permanent registration certificate from another Kennel Club Registry.
Administrative processing fees will be applied on submissions of invalid documentation.
How do I replace lost or stolen papers?
If a dog’s original registration certificate has been lost, stolen or destroyed, the dog’s current Owner on Record can request replacement papers. Only the registered owner of a dog may apply for duplicate papers.
See: Request for Duplicate Registration
Unfortunately because the “ownership” of a dog is considered a civil matter, in the case a dog or registration papers are stolen, owners may want to consider seeking legal assistance to determine how to pursue their rights in a court of law. EBKC will uphold all decisions made in a court of law once documentation has been provided.
How Do I Change The Name Of My Dog?
The European Bully Kennel Club allows an owner to change the name of a dog unless one or all of the following has occurred:
1. Once a dog has earned an EBKC title, no part of the dog’s name can be changed. The reasoning behind this is once the dog has earned a title it creates difficulties in tracking ongoing records of that dog.
2. Once the dog becomes a sire or dam of a EBKC registered litter, no part of his or her name can undergo any sort of change. The reasoning behind this is that the puppies from this sire or dam have their parent’s names listed on their pedigree. If their sire or dam’s name is changed they now have incorrect names listed as their parent.
3. A Kennel Name cannot be removed from the first part of dog’s name if the dog has been bred by a breeder that has his/her Kennel Name is an EBKC Registered Kennel Name.
To change your dog’s name, the current or new registrant/Sole Signatory can fill in the exact name on the back of the original Registration Certificate and submit the certificate to EBKC with a fee of €35. We will send you a new registration certificate with three-generation pedigree reflecting the name change.
The EBKC reserves the right to deny a dog’s requested name if the name is deemed vulgar, offensive or inappropriate.
What if I have not received my registration paperwork yet?
The EBKC Registrations Office will need to allow a full 30 days from the date we mail a customer’s registration paperwork to allow the post office time to deliver the work or return it to us through our Return Mail. If after 30 days from sending the customer has not received the paperwork, The customer must fill in the Request for Duplicate Registration .
One must select the drop-down selection under ‘Reason for Request’ – ‘Lost in the mail, never received‘. Once having the form submitted, the customer is notified with a Case Number. That Case number can be used as reference when contacting the EBKC.
Once the request is verified, replacement papers will be sent free of charge. The request for Duplicate Registration must be received by our office within two months of the date the office originally issued the customer’s paperwork.
The EBKC Registrations Office will not issue duplicate papers free of charge for paperwork lost in the mail if the request for duplicate papers is received in our office more 2 months after the papers were originally mailed. Before 30 days or after two months from the original date of mailing, all appropriate registration fees will apply.
Can i laminate my papers?
It is strongly advised NOT to laminate their Original EBKC registration certificate. This hinders the ability of a current registrant to sign the back and transfer the dog to another person. If the certificate is laminated, the new registrant can submit the original registration certificate, a written and signed statement from current registrant(s) of record authorising the dog to be transferred. This statement MUST include the name and EBKC Registration number of the dog, the purchase date for the new registrant, the name and address of the new registrant (and co-registrant), the new name of the dog (if applicable) and the name and signature of the current registrant(s).
An Affidavit and additional fee are NOT required to transfer a dog using laminated papers
How do I change my name if I get married or divorced?
EBKC must receive legal documentation in order to update the name of a dog’s registrant, due to marriage or divorce.
Suppose the registrant has had a legal name change due to marriage or divorce. In that case, a signed statement must be submitted by the registrant of record confirming EBKC is to recognize the registrant under the new name. A copy of the marriage/divorce certification must accompany this statement.
To update a dog’s EBKC registration certificate to show the changed name of the registrant, return the Original EBKC registration certificate with a signed statement and corresponding marriage/divorce documentation and a fee of €35.00 per paper to update and reprint.
How do I submit a complaint/dispute about someone?
Any person who believes another individual or club has committed a violation of EBKC policies or rules, or otherwise commits an act not in the best interest of EBKC or dogs in general, should make those actions known to the EBKC. Examples of such possible violations include, but are not limited to: falsifying papers or pedigrees, cruelty to dogs, suspicion of professional handlers, and dog fighting.
Any suspicion of dog fighting, cruelty to dogs, or any crimes involving dogs should first and foremost be reported to local law enforcement. EBKC takes these issues very seriously and any persons convicted of cruelty to dogs or dog fighting will be barred from EBKC for life.
It should be noted that the EBKC will not become involved in contract disputes, or act as an arbitrator in dog deals. Because the registry is not a party to the original agreement between buyer and seller, the EBKC has no standing to intervene at a later date. EBKC will also not take action in alleged forgeries, as the EBKC does not have the power or the resources to identify or prove a forgery. Both of these issues are best left to a court of law, and EBKC will honor the court’s decision.
If you believe a violation or other wrongdoing has occurred, submit a detailed complaint in writing to:
